The team of Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, is touring major cities in India to promote the film. The film is set to hit the screens on October 2. Having already wrapped up promotional activities in Kochi and Hyderabad, they were supposed to visit Chennai as part of their promotional tour. However, the film’s production house, Hombale Films, has announced that the event has been cancelled.
The makers have cancelled the show after 41 people died in a stampede in Karur, Tamil Nadu recently. The poster shared this on X, writing, “Due to the recent unfortunate incident, we are cancelling the Kantara: Chapter 1 promotional event scheduled to be held in Chennai tomorrow (Tuesday). Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected people. Thank you for your understanding; we look forward to meeting our audience in Tamil Nadu at an appropriate time.”
41 people were killed and around 150 others were injured and are still receiving treatment in a stampede that occurred during actor-politician Vijay’s political rally in Karur.
