In Raid 2, the follow-up to the 2018 blockbuster Hindi movie Raid, Ajay Devgan reprises his role as the tough IRS inspector Amay Patnaik. On Friday, March 28, the film’s producers issued a teaser. Riteish Deshmukh plays the antagonist in Raid 2, which was directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who also directed the first installment. The cast is completed by Vaani Kapoor, Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Supriya Pathak, and Amit Sial.
The teaser shows a convoy of vehicles traveling to an income tax raid down a sandy road. The voiceover speaks to Saurabh Shukla’s character, “Tauji,” a corrupt strongman who was imprisoned in the first movie. Amay, gruff and unsmiling, prepares for his 75th raid as Tauji lingers in prison. Riteish’s portrayal of Dada Bhai, his most recent target, is a well-liked politician with enormous power and ill-gotten wealth. As usual, Amay is unconcerned. “Who declared me to be a Pandav? Unfazed, he calls Dada Bhau and declares, “I am the entire Mahabharata.” Thus begins a contest of attrition and cunning.
On May 1, 2025, Raid 2 will be released in theaters.
